Dutch start-up Elysian Aircraft – which hopes to develop a battery-powered 90-seat airliner called the E9X – has added a swathe of senior executives to its advisory board.

Dutch aviation startup Elysian is reimagining what the industry thought was possible with electric aircraft.

Commercial aviation is struggling to reduce its climate impact and it’s currently not on track to meet its goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. Sustainable aviation fuel is not being produced fast enough and there seem to be few alternatives on the horizon to fuel-hungry jet engines and turboprops.

If the aviation industry is serious about hitting net zero in 2050, then long shots like this must be seriously investigated.
